The History of CBOs Resource Center
Since 2006, Institutional Capacity Building of SHIELD Program, IRC-Thailand has been providing training to Community Based Organizations (CBOs) in Northern region of Thailand to be able to implement their activities for migrant communities effectively.
As a part of the capacity building activities, a resource center has been set up for the CBOs to facilitate their capacity needs with the following vision and mission.
-Vision: To be a reliable body which enhance organizational capacity building and streng- then the coordination among CBOs in Chiang Mai,
-Mission: Capacity Coordination committee (Chiang Mai) is represented by members of Chiang Mai Based CBOs staff members, which enhance organizational capacity building and coordination among CBOs in Chiang Mai.
Movements of CBOs Resource Center
With the intention of supporting to accelerate organizational development and the participation power of youth in several issues, such as politic, development, human rights, education and others, the Resource Center is mainly running trainings, workshops, youth exchanges and reading club organized by the Capacity Building Coordination Committee members who are representatives of several CBOs with the support of IRC.
Library of The Center
In the Center’s website, there are many sessions, such as activities of Resource Center including activity photos, Resources including human resources provided by Resource Center, Bookshelf in which many users can download many books regarding with management issues, organizational development issues, governance and politic issues, facilitation issues and other various subjects without paying credits.
Physical CBOs Resource Center
Apart from the above activities, this CBO resource center has hosted in order to accelerate the opportunities of training hosting, using Resource Center’s office materials and promote network among CBOs.
The physical resource is currently located at IRC Institutional Capacity Building Team office in Chiang Mai, Thailand.
In the Resource Center Office, comprehensive range of resource books on various topics and Burmese books are available to use, and also meeting room facilities such as meeting table, LCD projector and laptops for CBOs in need of meeting venue. In addition, table tennis can be played in the Center Office Compound for relax and health.
